job Description

Zimbabwe Red Cross Society operates a Clinic in Harare CBD. The clinic requires to fill a vacancy for the position of a Diagnostic Sonographer. The person specializes in using ultrasound technology to produce diagnostic images of patients' internal organs and tissues

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensuring positive patient identification.
• Ensuring clear images for diagnostic purposes and making adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary
• Selecting the appropriate settings and adjusting the patients' positions accordingly
• Monitoring and caring for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures
• Selects and examines acquired images for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings
• Presents sonograms and preliminary findings to referring doctors or physicians
• Complete the appropriate documentation and maintain patients’ medical records and images for future reference throughout the treatment process.
• Assist Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures.
• Maintain and clean the sonographic equipment
• Ensures efficiency in safe patient care i.e. triaging and maintaining patient volumes at an efficient and productive level in co-ordination with the patient schedule.
• When not actively engaged with a scheduled patient, assist other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork to maintain a culture of teamwork
• Able to speak and write fluently, clearly and concisely using medical terms and is detail oriented.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff.
• Able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
• Able to maintain quality control standards.
• Able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Teaching and monitoring students on attachment.

Qualifications and Experience

Post grad or MSc in Ultrasonography
Minimum 1 year experience working in the private sector.

Skills:
• Proficiency in ultrasound technology and imaging techniques.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
