Deputy Director Maintenance
Job Summary
The Deputy Director Maintenance is responsible to the Director, Central Services, Amenities and Maintenance for the day-to-day running, repairs and maintenance of university facilities (fleet, buildings, roads, water reticulation, sewer reticulation, electrical installations, equipment and other properties), as well as provision of services and utilities for the well-being of the university.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leads an effective and well-motivated, multi-campus, multi-disciplinary and multi-task maintenance and transport and logistics team.
Day-to-day management and coordination of operations of University-wide maintenance services (Student residences, Administration Buildings, Faculty Offices, Lecture Theatres, Great Hall, Multi-Purpose Halls, Kitchens, Public toilets, Guest Houses and all University Campuses)
Ensures sustainable and reliable transport and logistics and facilities management.
Directs, supervises and evaluates maintenance staff to receive training related to specific job tasks and responsibilities.
Manages all materials and stocks required to undertake appropriate maintenance of buildings, facilities, generators and fleet.
Maintains assets list of all equipment the team uses and a replacement schedule.
Produces reports against section key performance indicators (KPIs) detailed in University Strategic Planning documents.
Maintains and upgrades infrastructure through repairs, renovations, refurbishments and upgrades of buildings and facilities for smooth implementation of Education 5.0
Ensures consistent provision of utility services: water supply security, energy and power management, and sewerage treatment works.
Reduce equipment downtime and unavailability by responding to at least 95% of all reactive maintenance requests within the stipulated time.
Contributes to the University’s third-stream income.
Contributes to the success of the University’s state of preparedness for events.
Improves the % cure rate of audit non-compliance.
Generates business intelligence reports that help leadership in making more accurate, data-driven decisions.
Responsible for ensuring that all programs, activities, and services comply with university and government regulations.
Secretary to the Infrastructure and Maintenance Committee and other meetings as directed by the University Secretariat.
Liaises with the Director to make decisions for operational activities and setting of strategic goals.

Minimum Qualifications
The incumbent should possess a first degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or Project Management
The incumbent should have a minimum of 1 year post-qualification relevant working experience
