Duties and Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collecting, cleaning, and preparing data from diverse sources, including student records, academic databases, financial systems, research publications, and external data sources.Ensuring data quality and integrity through data validation, cleaning, transformation, and integration techniques.Developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL (Extracting, Transforming, Loading) processes for efficient data flow.Conducting exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies within the data.Developing and implementing statistical models, machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering), and predictive analytics techniques to address research questions and solve business problems.Utilizing statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SQL, statistical packages) and data visualization tools to analyze data and generate insightful findingsProviding data-driven recommendations and insights to support strategic planning, academic program development, student recruitment and retention initiatives, research funding applications, and other key university decisions.Collaborating with stakeholders across the university to identify data needs and develop data-driven solutions to address their specific challenges.Ensuring compliance with all relevant data privacy regulations, including the University’s data protection policy and applicable national and international regulations (e.g., GDPR, CDPA);Any other duties as may be assigned by the Information Security Engineer.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field;At least one (1) year working experience in data analysis;Strong programming skills in Python or R;Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL);Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); andKnowledge of data privacy regulations and security best practices.
