As a Credit & Quantitative Risk Manager, your primary focus is to safeguard the institution's capital, earnings, and control environment against credit and operational risks through oversight monitoring (second line of defence). This role supplements the efforts of the first line of defence (risk owners). Key responsibilities include independent credit risk measurement, monitoring, and reporting, as well as validating the effectiveness and adequacy of credit risk management by line management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate Reviews of Credit Risk Policies: -Lead and coordinate reviews of credit risk policies to ensure alignment with industry best practices.
Manage Credit Risk in the Portfolio: -Effectively manage and mitigate credit risk inherent in the credit portfolio.
Monitor Policy Implementation: -Monitor the implementation of policies and ensure adherence to risk appetite limits, such as Earnings at Risk.
Develop Risk Models: -Develop risk models for economic capital modeling and other modeling requirements.
Introduce Stress Testing Models: -Introduce stress testing models for credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk.
Validate Off-the-Shelf Credit Models: -Rigorously validate off-the-shelf credit models to ensure their accuracy and reliability.
Qualifications and Experience
-A first degree in quantitative analysis (Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science). -Postgraduate qualifications in Risk Management or a related field will be an added advantage. -At least 2 (two) years of experience in credit risk management and quantitative risk modeling and stress testing in a financial institution. -Strong quantitative analytical skills and financial modeling skills. -Knowledge of BASEL II & III, and IFRS 9 requirements is a must.
Education: -Bachelor of Commerce Honours (BCom Hons): Business Finance, Economics. -Bachelor of Science (BSc): Actuarial And Financial Mathematics. -Master of Science (MSc): Actuarial And Financial Mathematics.
