Hivos currently is in the process of developing a new strategic compass 2025-2028.
Approach and Scope of Work: Whereas some of its current work is already funded by the US Department of State, Hivos would like to deepen its understanding of the US Department of State’s different Bureaus and their priorities, their preferred partners, ways of working at regional and global levels, and eventually expand its portfolio at the US Department of State.
Hivos is thus seeking the services of a consultant to undertake a thorough analysis of the US Department of State funding opportunities related to the Hivos’ three focus areas.
Purpose/objective of the consultancy: The purpose of this consultancy is to deepen Hivos’ understanding of the different bureaus within US Department of State; identify and connect Hivos to the key contacts at the different bureaus within US Department of State; identify US Department of State preferred partners at the headquarters and regional levels; identify US Department of State’s priority regional and global events.
Duties and Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Hivos Business Development Unit the consultant will be requested to deliver the following: 1) A detailed overview of the US Department of State’s different bureaus, priorities and key personnel. 2) A comprehensive analysis and information on US Department of State’s key partners 3) A strategy to approach the US Department of State’s key partners, including respective focal points 4) An overview of US Department of State’s key events on global and regional levels
Qualifications and Experience
-Demonstrable extensive experience with US Department of State Bureaus, preferably with direct responsibilities in grant provision and/or program management globally and regionally -Strong network and access to the US Department of State’s key partners globally and regionally -Experience and knowledge of the US Department of State funding mechanisms globally and regionally -Flexibility to adapt to any subsequent changes in the scope of work and general terms of reference -Prior demonstrated experience in partnerships development/ management, fundraising and donor intelligence gathering
