Department of Radiography
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Providing hands-on and classroom instruction in the use of clinical radiology
equipment, such as x-ray machines, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines,
computed tomography(CT) scanners, Ultrasound equipment, Fluoroscopy Equipment
and any other equipment in the diagnostic imaging department.
Teaching students proper housekeeping, adhering to local rules, infection control
protocols, radiation protection, lifting techniques, good inter-professional skills and
good communication skills.
Conducting clinical assessments (continuous, staged clinical assessments, Viva voce,
OSCES, case studies, written reports) and any other forms of assessments consistent
with the level of training of the students.
Coordinating students’ clinical placements to allow for comprehensive clinical
learning on the wide range of radiology equipment.
Conducting clinical visits.
Keeping records of students clinical learning profiles and recommend remedial
actions where required.
Skills and qualities
The individual should have a passion for teaching students, be patient, and possess good
leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to provide detailed
instruction to students.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Radiography. Additional
qualifications in CT, MRI, RNI, and M/U or a master’s qualification will be an added
advantage. In addition to formal education qualifications, the individual should be clinically
competent, registered or be eligible for registration with the Allied Health Practitioners
Council of Zimbabwe and should have a valid practicing certificate. Experience in a clinical
radiology position is crucial. Exposure to a wide variety of imaging modalities is an added
advantage.
