The Bookkeeper will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial operations of our SaaS company. This position involves recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software, with experience in the SaaS industry being a strong advantage
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including subscriptions, renewals, purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing clients, managing collections, and processing vendor payments.
Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient funds for operations.
Vendor Management:
Manage vendor balances and ensure timely payments.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors and address any billing issues promptly.
Subscription Billing and Revenue Recognition:
Handle subscription billing cycles, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
Assist with revenue recognition in compliance with relevant standards.
Ensure usage reports are accurate and reflect the actual usage of services by clients.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
Conduct regular reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Provide management with timely and accurate financial information and insights.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and file tax returns and ensure compliance with ZIMRA.
Maintain accurate records for tax reporting purposes.
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the SaaS industry.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Palladium etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) is a plus.
Familiarity with subscription billing and SaaS revenue recognition principles.
Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience with financial software tools and systems commonly used in the SaaS industry.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
