To monitor and enhance biodiversity through field surveys, data analysis, and collaborative conservation initiatives, ensuring alignment with Akashinga’s ecological goals and local legislation. The position is based in Binga and incumbent will report to the Junior Country Scientist.
• Conduct wildlife surveys (camera traps, transects) to assess key species and habitats.
• Analyse ecological data to identify trends, threats, and conservation opportunities.
• Lead habitat restoration and species protection efforts.
• Support ranger teams with biodiversity mapping and intelligence.
• Educate local communities on biodiversity conservation.
• Collaborate with researchers, NGOs, and other stakeholders in joint initiatives.
• Prepare reports on ecological indicators for adaptive management.
• Ensure compliance with environmental policies and legislation.

Requirements
• Recognised qualification in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, Wildlife Management or a closely related field.
• Relevant diploma with extensive field experience is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in biodiversity monitoring (camera traps, surveys) and data analysis.
• 2 Years experience in a similar position.
• Proficiency in ecological assessment tools and GIS.
• Ability to work in remote, challenging environments.
• Clean driver’s license.
