AUTOMATION ENGINEER
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities -Design, install, commission and maintain industrial automation and control systems. -Support automation of mining and mineral-processing equipment. -Configure, troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control systems. -Work with sensors, actuators, variable-frequency drives and industrial control equipment. -Support SCADA and HMI systems used for monitoring and controlling plant operations. -Diagnose automation, instrumentation and control-system faults. -Integrate automated equipment with mechanical and electrical systems. -Monitor production and equipment data to identify performance problems. -Develop and improve automated operating and control procedures. -Assist with commissioning of automated mining and processing equipment. -Maintain automation system documentation, control diagrams and technical records. -Train and provide technical support to operators, technicians and local engineering personnel. -Assist in improving plant efficiency, reliability and automation performance.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements -Bachelor’s Degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline. -Practical experience with PLC, SCADA, HMI, industrial control systems and instrumentation. -Experience with industrial automation, mining, mineral processing or manufacturing equipment is an advantage. -Ability to troubleshoot electrical, automation and control-system faults. -Knowledge of industrial communication systems and variable-frequency drives is an advantage. -Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. -Ability to work effectively in a mining and processing environment.
