ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN/SENIOR ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN

Position Overview
• Providing reference services to users in person, on the phone, via e-mail and through social media
• Organising and conducting training on Information/ Digital/ AI Literacy skills, e-resources usage, reference management tools and other research support services to both students and lecturers.
• Establishing strategies that would increase public awareness of the library’s services and Products
• Monitoring and evaluation of resources and services usage patterns and producing statistics to inform decision making
• Supervising and guiding staff in different units
• Supervising evening and weekend duties
• Compiling reports
• Any other duties as assigned by the Librarian

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent from a recognised institution OR Degree plus a Postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Science.
• An MSc in Library and Information Science is an added advantage
• Preference will be given to applicants with experience in Academic or Research Libraries.
• Experience with online services is a distinct advantage.

• Producing research guides
• Organising workshops
• Monitoring and determining on a continuous basis information needs of students, academic staff and other users in the respective faculty
