Qualifications and Experience
-The applicant must at least hold an M.Sc./M.Phil. qualification or equivalent in Physics. Applicants with major research interest in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Material Science, Solid State Physics, Applied Physics and Lasers Physics, and Optics will have a clear advantage. An applicant without a PhD degree will be expected to register for studies leading to a PhD qualification. Proof of active research in the form of published journal articles and at least two years teaching experience will be a definite advantage. The applicant must submit a Teaching and Research Statement. -The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with the basic physics taught at undergraduate level. Further, the successful applicant shall be expected to teach undergraduate modules in addition to the modules in the M.Sc. Lasers and Applied Optics programme. Furthermore, the successful candidate shall participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that require them to actively be engaged in meaningful research that leads to development and economic sustainability. In doing so, the successful candidate shall be expected to attract funding for research and foster collaborative research within the Department, Faculty, University and with other Institutions.
