Chrispen Nyathi, the only Zimbabwean actor on the new Mzansi Magic series, DiepCity has revealed that his role on the show has made him change his ways as a Christian.

The 27-year-old Zimbabwean plays pastor Charles – who sometimes goes out of his Christian ways to do ungodly ways.

He got the big break of his life when he was called to play on the show last year.

Chrispen has been playing an extra in most big shows in Mzansi since 2016 and this is his first-ever big role.

He now acts alongside some of his role models, the likes of Mduduzi Mabaso, Hamilton Dlamini, and Dawn Thandeka King.

Speaking about why he celebrates his role as Pastor Charles, Chrispen revealed that the character has made him sit down a couple of times and ask himself if he was doing the right things as a Christian or not.

Apart from making him introspect on his life as a Christian, Chrispen says this big break is what he needed most as an artist in the industry.

He has been playing an extra for most of his career and the experience and treatment he got from that was unpleasant for him as he longed to upgrade and have a real role someday.

“I used to act as an extra until I joined one of Mzansi’s biggest telenovelas as a featured actor. I noticed the treatment that was given to the main and featured actors was different from the treatment that was given to the extras. From then I vowed I will never act as an extra again, even though it taught me a lot about acting,” he said.

After joining Becky Casting Agency, he got the big break of his life as he was called for the role.

Speaking about what he has in store for the fans of the show, Chrispen says fans must expect much from him.

“This character will open up a can of worms,” he said to Daily Sun.
