Key Accountabilities

As a Data Governance Officer at CABI, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Data Governance and Policy Research: Engaging in research and implementation related to data governance, policy, and best practices within international settings.
  2. Research Support: Conducting research on real-world examples of data management, access, and sharing and assisting colleagues in designing tools based on this research.
  3. Policy Implementation: Supporting colleagues in the implementation of data-sharing policies, plans, or strategies with external stakeholders by providing technical expertise and advice.
  4. Change Management: Facilitating change management activities across various digital development projects.
  5. Data Sharing Facilitation: Collaborating with colleagues to plan, deliver, and facilitate data literacy workshops, covering data collection, analysis, management, and publication.
  6. Business Development: Assisting in business development efforts by identifying potential sources of project income and contributing to proposal writing when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Demonstrable experience in data science, data analytics, and data management.
  • Knowledge of data standards, including metadata, vocabularies, ontologies, and identifiers.
  • Experience working with technical and non-technical audiences or global teams.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable experience in data policy research, development, and implementation
  • Knowledge of FAIR Data Principles and their implementation
  • Experience with biological, agricultural, and environmental datasets.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and skills in administering, transforming, and manipulating large datasets.
  • Effective project and time management skills for handling diverse tasks.
  • Interest in change management, systems thinking, and human-centered design.
