The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations Public Health Organization established in 1948. Context
In order to provide IST/ESA Communication person will support various other activities in the Eastern and Southern countries such as the ongoing EPI Reviews in Lesotho, Eswatini and Zimbabwe. The incumbent UNV will focus on documenting and generating content on our day to day work that we can use to share the experiences and learnings for country, regional, and global forums.

Duties and Responsibilities

Task description
a. Provide writing and editing support the development of technical writing materials and products such as manuscripts for publications, reports, etc.
b. Participate in discussions related to technical programme processes and provide pedagogical and language expertise for technical officers to ensure clarity and soundness of technical products.
c. Generate content for electronic print materials for social media on ongoing country and IST level activities around the “4 Must Wins”
d. Coordinate with IST and AFRO comms to ensure the appropriate use of text and graphic materials in a variety of media, including print-based, web-based and electronic communication systems.
e. Ensure that materials meet copyright compliance.
f. Explore and leverage new communication technologies that would be useful for the team

Qualifications and Experience

3 years of experience in at the national and/or international level in immunization work and broader public health sector or other relevant programmes; experience with developing web content is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
b. Developing case studies, manuscripts, professional reports, photo stories, and other forms of technical writing in immunizations or broader public health
c. Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
d. Knowledge of reference management tools such as EndNote
e. Skillset to search the biomedical literature, critically read scientific papers, and extract information needed to prepare evidence.
d. Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
e. Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
f. Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
g. Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
h. Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
i. Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
j. Have affinity with or interest in advancing immunization in the Africa region and volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

-Bachelor degree or equivalent in a. Communications and or Technical Writing.

b. First-level university degree in health related degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree;
c. Advanced degree in communications and technical writing is an added advantage
