Deadline: 08 September 2020 Location:Beitbridge About The IRC is implementing a 12 months LDS funded project in Nyanga and Beitbridge Districts in response to the drought emergency currently affecting parts of the country. As part of the project, the IRC intends to rehabilitate 15 boreholes in Nyanga and Beitbridge Districts. In view of this, the IRC seeks qualified and experienced technicians, preferably based in Chipinge to assess potential boreholes and conduct capacity testing as well as make recommendations for the design of the scope of works for the proposed rehabilitation and upgrades including solar water pumping. Responsibilities Assess 7 or 8 selected boreholes in Beitbridge and Nyanga and rank them according to priority for rehabilitation based on yield, water demand and potential number of beneficiaries served by the borehole; Conduct capacity testing consisting of step drawdown tests (three tests) and recovery tests (three tests) for a minimum of 7 hours for the 7 or 8 top ranked boreholes providing pumping details (Liters/second); Undertake conceptual design and final designs (after technical review) and specification of solar water conveyance system (suitable solar panel selection and array layout, PV array mounting and foundation requirements, cable sizing, water flow rates and delivery point pressure, pipeline sizing, submersible pump selection and associated power requirements including – design flow rate and total dynamic head); Provide detailed drawings for tank stand, PV pedestal, borehole fencing and all requisite civil works in consultation with IRC staff; Provide a detailed report of the findings and recommendations including detailed designs, BoQs and specification for each of the 7 or 8 proposed borehole upgrades; Close and return assessed borehole back to original state prior to capacity testing. Qualifications Must be a qualified technician or engineer with either an HND or degree qualification in civil or water engineering; Familiarity with Nyanga and Beitbridge Districts and with water supply mechanisms desirable; Experience working for the District Development Fund (DDF) or a local authority in a water supply infrastructure function; Provide own equipment for capacity testing including but not limited to generator and appropriate pump; Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
