Description :
The Arrell Food Institute was established in 2016 at the University of Guelph, thanks to a $20 million donation from the Arrell Family Foundation. Named after alumni Ron and Nancy Arrell - who have been long-time supporters of the university - the institute is part of the university's Food from Thought project, a research program aiming to address global food security challenges. Since then, the institute has funded a number of research projects, established multiple partnerships, and created educational programs, including a graduate program in Food Systems and an undergraduate program in Food Science. It has also hosted events to increase public awareness of food security issues.
