A natural resource advocacy organization based in Harare is seeking the services of 2 program assistants that will support program staff in projects Implementation.


Position summary

The project assistant works alongside the Project Manager to effectively implement projects as assigned. The project assistant is expected to carefully study the agreement with the donor for the assigned project and ensure timeous and effective implementation of the project.


Key skills

Key competencies expected of a Project officer include the following: Demonstrate good leadership skills and ability to coordinate the team with regard to the assigned project; Highly organised in both time and in resources; need to manage progress reports, timetables, and project budgets; Have a thorough understanding of project objectives and goals, ensuring all team members are briefed and kept abreast with regard to the said project; Have an analytical and critical mind set for making the best business and financial decisions for the project; Good computer and writing skills; Can multitask, work well under pressure, and work efficiently to meet strict deadlines; Have excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with others; A clean class 4 Drivers License.


Job description

The position of Project Assistant entails working with the Programs Manager to implement specific projects and also give back up to other project officers as assigned by the Programs Manager. The Project Assistant may also be called upon to perform some administrative duties when needed.


Below are the specific tasks: Implement field activities as assigned by the Manager. The Project Assistant shall be assigned to at least one project; Offer driving services transporting field staff to and back from the field; Write project reports to be submitted to the manager for onward submission to the Director and Donor; Participate in proposal writing; Contribute content to CNRG publications; Back up other project officers as and when assigned by the Programs Manager; Support administrative staff with office work when tasked to do so by the Programs Manager.
