SUPPORT SERVICES DEPARTMENT

MANAGER: TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS 
 Reports to the Deputy Associate Director; Support Services.

Duties and Responsibilities 
These shall include, but are not limited to, the following: 

? Managing the University’s transport system. 
? Overseeing the scheduling and time tabling of the University’s bus fleet.
? Design maintenance systems to ensure the serviceability of the University’s transport fleet. 
? Book in deliveries and liaising with customers. 
? Allocate and record resources and movements on the transport planning system. 
? Ensure that all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations. 
? Facilitate effective communication with Faculties/Departments and respond to their transport requirements. 
? Booking sub-contractors and ensuring that they deliver services to the University within the agreed terms. 
? Direct all transportation activities. 
? Develop transportation relationships within the University and with external stakeholders.
 ? Monitor University transport and fuel costs. 
? Negotiate and bargain transportation prices. 
? Offer routine maintenance of University vehicles. 

Work/Educational Requirements

The position requires an individual with: - 
? A Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management/Transport/Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent. 

? At least five (5) years post-qualification relevant experience at Senior Management level.

 ? A relevant Masters’ degree in the area would be an added advantage.
