SUPPORT SERVICES DEPARTMENT


Reports to the Deputy Associate Director; Support Services. Qualifications and Experience

The position requires an individual with: -

 A Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business

Administration/Management/Transport/Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or

equivalent.

 At least five (5) years post-qualification relevant experience at Senior Management level.

 A relevant Masters’ degree in the area would be an added advantage.

 Can stay calm under pressure and still make good decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

These shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

 Managing the University’s transport system.

 Overseeing the scheduling and time tabling of the University’s bus fleet.

 Design maintenance systems to ensure the serviceability of the University’s transport

fleet.

 Book in deliveries and liaising with customers.

 Allocate and record resources and movements on the transport planning system.

 Ensure that all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to

ensure smooth operations.

 Facilitate effective communication with Faculties/Departments and respond to their

transport requirements.

 Booking sub-contractors and ensuring that they deliver services to the University within

the agreed terms.

 Direct all transportation activities.

 Develop transportation relationships within the University and with external stakeholders.
