Introduction & Background The Zimbabwe Evaluation Association (ZEA) is a membership-based organization that exists to serve the evaluation community and promote quality evaluation practice in Zimbabwe. The Association works under the vision of “A Zimbabwe with a culture of quality evaluation that contributes to improved lives and conditions for citizens”. The association also exists to build partnerships with policymakers to utilize evaluation findings and disseminate evaluation information to stakeholders. The Association is affiliated to the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) and recognized as a ‘Voluntary Organisation of Professional Evaluators’ (VOPE) by the International Organisation for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE). The purpose of ZEA as an institution is to ensure that programs are evaluated; evaluations are credible; findings are used to inform policies or development interventions and that results contribute to sustainable development In June 2019, an elective AGM was held to put in place a new board of directors. ZEA would like to thank the previous board members for their hard work and overall governance of the Association during their tenure. As the new Board Members take up their positions for the period 2019-2021, it is paramount that they are sensitized on ZEA systems and structures that have been established and their roles and responsibilities forthwith are well-articulated to them. The aim is to help new board members to understand the organization, the environment in which it operates and their role in making the organization a success. Objectives The overall objective of the induction program is to provide basic information on ZEA Governance structures and processes and on the gains made so far by the Association, and enhance newly-elected Board Members’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities as well as the systems and processes of the institution. The specific objectives of the induction program are To sensitize the Incoming Board Members on their roles and responsibilities in line with the ZEA Constitution; To sensitize the Board Members on the key activities and programs being run by ZEA and their respective mandates as outlined in the ZEA Constitution; Review the board charter alongside other governance documents; To help appreciate the dynamics of structuring a functioning Executive Committee for effective service delivery; To help newly-elected Board Members understand the resourcing framework for devolved ZEA governance to regional chapters Key Competencies Eligible consultants must have a Social Science Degree in a related field, relevant for the assignment; At least five (5) years of relevant experience in organizational development, strategic planning and training in board governance; Understanding of how Professional member-based Associations operate; the roles and responsibilities of governing structures Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in written and spoken English; Ability to deliver quality reports/analysis and results in line with established deadlines
