About the grant : The Department for International Development (DFID) is funding a 4-year, £12 million Teacher Professional Development (TPD) initiative, that is part of the broader Teacher Effectiveness and Equitable Access for All Children Programme (TEACH) in Zimbabwe. TEACH has been designed to contribute to a positive shift in the trajectory of teaching and learning outcomes in Zimbabwe; leaving no child behind. The TPD component is scheduled to launch this year (2020) beginning with six-month Inception Phase followed by multiyear Implementation Phases. The TPD aims to improve the capacity of primary and secondary teachers in Zimbabwe to deliver high-quality education using evidence-based targeted in-service teacher training. World Vision Zimbabwe is currently recruiting for several full and part-time positions to design and deliver this programme. Please be advised that the position is contingent upon contract award and client approval. POSITION : TEACHING AT THE RIGHT LEVEL (TARL) MANAGER MAJOR RESPONISBILITIES
  • Collaborating with the other programme specialists, lead and manage the development of a fit for purpose TARL model(s) which will be implemented in clusters.
  • Oversee the training, coaching and monitoring of systems used during the implementation of the TARL model, and support all partners in improving the effectiveness of these systems.
  • Work with partners and Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) to take ownership of TARL pedagogy, and support the adaptation of TARL in the Zimbabwean context.
  • Maintain relations with the MoPSE and other partners, and coordinate the work with other consortium partners.
  • Ensure that useful lessons on implementation and the pedagogical approach are collected, and an evidence base is synthesized and disseminated, particularly within the MoPSE.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • A Master’s Degree in Education, Public Policy, or another similar social science
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience
  • NGO / Humanitarian experience in education grant will be an added advantage
  • Advanced writing and oral presentation skills in English
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience
  • Proven ability to handle multiple diverse assignments at one time, successfully complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines while conducting high-quality work
  • Experience leading policy outreach including strategically identifying and mobilizing appropriate policymakers, and developing and maintaining these relationships is desirable.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and empower the performance of team members and counterparts
