Overview

Responsible for establishing and managing effective working relationships with Internews’ sub-grantees and sub-contractors and of recipients of small grants in Zimbabwe, including local media organizations, media outlets and civil society organizations. Monitor implementation of activities and timely reporting (narrative and financial). This position is contingent upon award.


Main duties / responsibilities

As CIT Zimbabwe’s main point of contact for sub-grants management, maintain communication and relationships with local and international partners, ensuring that media and civil society stakeholders are effectively involved in the project and that the project partners’ feedback is channeled back into project management; Provide day to day administration of sub-grants and subcontracts, including tracking activities, budgets, payments, compliance, modifications, reporting, and alert the Finance and Administration Director and the CoP regarding any performance or financial reporting issues; Support the CoP to monitor the programmatic progress and capacity of sub-grants and subcontracts against the sub-grant agreements and work-plans; Ensure technical, financial, and administrative compliance with CIT’ and the donor’s sub-grant management and reporting procedures; Support organizational capacity assessments for sub-grantees and other partners and build capacity of sub-grantees in various areas including programmatic reporting, financial management and M&E; Launch and administer competitive grant pools for media and civil society organizations; With support from the M&E Specialist, oversee data collection and programmatic reporting for partners ensuring all procedures are followed; Support M&E and Program Officer to identify success stories; Liaise with the HQ and Regional Office for partner-related information or financial issues; Oversee partners’ programmatic and financial reporting, ensuring that quality reports are submitted to Internews in a timely manner; Monitor and evaluate the quality of sub-grantees’ reporting and provide training on reporting procedures and mechanisms, to ensure improvement and impact; Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Party, the Senior Media Advisor, the Finance and Administration Director, the Regional office, and HQ offices.


Qualifications (qualified and experienced Zimbabwean female applicants are encouraged to apply)

Degree in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration / Project Management with a strong bias towards accounting and resources management; At least 5 years proven experience in managing subgrants and contracts; Proven experience in organisational capacity assessment, sub agreements, milestone reporting and periodic review of progress reports; Strong analytical and review skills essential; High levels of ethical conduct and confidentially a must; Strong presentation and excel proficiency skills a must for this position; Demonstrated mentoring abilities and experience supporting senior managerial staff; Experience with USAID- and/or US government-funded programs strongly preferred; Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent written and spoken English.
