Description :
Galaway Management Services has been retained by one of its clients – a manufacturing company to recruit
and select a suitable candidate for the position of SHE OFFICER.
Main Duties
Establish Safe Work Procedures; Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work
Instructions for tasks as and when required.
Conducts pre-implementation risk assessments on new projects if and when
required and identifies risk mitigation measures in conjunction with contractors.
Reviews Contractor Risk Assessment and assesses work for compliance to
specifications.
Provides SHE improvement proposals, proposed corrective action and required
resources for corrective action.
Follows up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented where necessary and
ensure that requirements are complied with.
Reports on Contractor performance where repetitive matters are not being
addressed according to requirements.
Conducts SHE Committee Meetings (plan, scheduled and review).
Supervises the regular inspection of fire fighting, safety and emergency response
equipment at sites and offices.
Assists in development and implementing of emergency response procedures and
evacuation plans on site and offices. Ensure that these plans are reviewed and
updated regularly.
Ensures that the emergency plans are communicated to staff and visitors and
update registers on training and induction.
Provides detailed audit reports with findings. Identify non-conformities and
provides corrective action measures to prevent re-occurrence.
Monitors and reviews that corrective measures have been implemented.
Review and amend standards, specifications, policies and procedures for approval.
Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Health and Environment, Risk or Disaster
Management or any other related field.
A minimum of 3 years’ working experience.
In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures.
Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
