VACANCY NOTICE: RESOURCE GEOLOGIST


A leading Gold Mining Company based in Harare, Zimbabwe is urgently looking for a Resource Geologist.


Duties and Responsibilities


- Validate interpretative and analytical data as received.

- Oversee and verify models and interpretations built by junior Geologists or Consultants.

- Update or create 3D litho-structural models and mineralized models if required.

- Conduct extensive QA/QC monitoring to ensure data and interpretations are accurate.

- Manage all information related to the resource, ensuring assays, composites, densities and related information are accurate and validated.

- Monitor regulatory compliance with respect to mineral resources and mineral reserve estimates.

- Reviews data integrity and quality during each drilling, and ensure effective communication is maintained with all relevant team members.

- Produce and validate block models and other parameters as required.

- Recommend updates and changes to the resource modelling processes to improve quality and efficiency and ensure any modifications are consistently implemented and documented.

- Supervising data entry Clerks and Pit Controllers on data-related issues.

- Liaise with database providers such as Data-shed or acquire to maintain the mine data integrity.

- Carry out ore reconciliations.

- Work hand in hand with the IT department to solve mining-related applications problems.

- Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programmes.

- Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments.

- Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety and environmental and social responsibility practices.

- Lead the development of procedures in the Geology section.

- Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.

- Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures.

- Ensure hazard management plans are observed.

- Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

- Activate participation in the Company's SHE strategy.


Key Competencies


- Advanced knowledge of Surpac.

- Leapfrog or similar software in particular the 3D modelling and resource calculation aspects.

- Strong 3D interpretations and geostatistical modelling skills.

- Strong skills in MS Office, Database (MS-SQL and Access) and map-making software applications.

- Detail-oriented and able to follow and maintain accurate, detailed documentation and policies.

- A proven track record in mining operations as well as operational experience.

- Technical report writing skills are essential.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Educational Qualification


Suitable candidates should have the following Qualifications and experience:-


- Advanced Bachelor's degree in Geology or similar.

- Minimum of seven (7) years working experience in operations or exploration including at least 3 years in resource modelling.

- Experience in Gold Ore deposits very essential.

- Strong and demonstrable ability in planning, controlling and organizing resources.

- Demonstrable understanding of relevant applicable legislation and mining regulations.
