Context of the position

Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it. SOS Children's Villages Association of Zimbabwe is a member of SOS International - a worldwide children's social welfare organisation, providing vulnerable children without homes with a family home and educational opportunities as well as strengthening families to reduce poverty.

Mission of the position

SOS Children's Villages Zimbabwe has established Community Outreach Programmes around the country. The Programme aims to assist and support children in difficult circumstances; in particular, families headed by a child, a grandparent or by a single parent. The Association is looking for an energetic and organized individual to support the National Association in the day-to-day management of the monitoring and evaluation of all family like care and family strengthening programmes.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities

Support Program Directors, Coordinator, Heads of Departments to develop systematic and realistic monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data to report on project performance indicators; Coordinate the implementation of baseline surveys, follow-on monitoring and evaluation exercises for various initiatives in the Association; Provide overall management for the design and implementation of the Children Villages Program Policy working closely with Projects Heads, and provide progress updates to the Deputy National Director and the National Director; Serve as the primary point person for all monitoring and evaluation related work; Develop and refine various monitoring tools for the Association programs (both quantitative and qualitative), and maintain a results database to aggregate data; Train the National Management team and co-workers on the accurate use of the monitoring systems, providing ongoing coaching/support through regular site monitoring visits, and ensure quality control and problem solving as needed; Document good practices, lessons learned trends, cross cutting policy and implementation issues, etc; Research and collect content and stories about the programmes achievements.

Requirements

Competencies

Good writing, analytical and communication skills; Relevant experience in field survey/data collection (qualitative and quantitative) techniques, data entry, data verification, and analysis; Strong computer literacy with a full knowledge of MS Office applications. In addition to Microsoft Excel, the incumbent should demonstrate fluency in use of at least one data management software including MS Access, SPSS; Team Player; Professionalism: demonstrates ability to work in a composed, competent and committed manner and exercises careful judgment in meeting day-to-day challenges; Delivering results: produces and delivers quality results in a service-oriented and timely manner; is action oriented and committed to achieving agreed outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in statistics, demographics, public policy, international development, economics, monitoring and evaluation or related field; Minimum of six years’ professional experience in M&E positions of increasing seniority with responsibility for implementing M&E activities of all programs; Master’s degree plus an advanced certificate in M&E is an added advantage.
