Project Coordinator: Local NGO Deadline: 30 December 2019 Location: Beitbridge, Zimbabwe Contract Period: Eight months – three months being probation (with possibility of extension based on funding) Purpose of Job Lead the implementation of Skills2Live project in Beitbridge District. Position Summary A local NGO is seeking an experienced individual to oversee the implementation of activities of a youth project in Beitbridge. The incumbent should possess good coordination skills, have experience in implementing outreach programmes, working with children and young people and passionate about economically empowering young people. Responsibilities Coordination: Identify and collaborate with SRHR partners; mobilise potential project beneficiaries for research activities, conduct initial project beneficiary screening according to set guidelines, engage and oversee all training activities; identify master crafts persons to provide skills training to youth, plan and ensure implementation of all project activities, ensure availability of venue/s for training activities; develop activity work plans; in liaison with the Project Manager, represent the organization in district stakeholder meetings; conduct community awareness/sensitization meetings on the project; facilitate placement of students on attachment; organize graduation events for students; submit reports to Government departments as required; promote the health and safety of students; ensure fulfilment of the organization’s roles as stipulated in the MoU with the local authority. Communication & Monitoring and Evaluation: Support project research and evaluation activities; compile and submit monthly update reports; organize and conduct post-training monitoring sessions; submit weekly activity updates and monthly project reports; monitor student attendance, follow-up and document reasons for absenteeism; collect and consolidate statistical data as required by the project. Financial management and grant oversight: Implement activities in accordance with project or activity budgets; ensure project equipment and materials are secure and accounted for; ensure that all payments due to service providers are made timeously, apply the organization’s policies in requesting, using and accounting for resources; consult with Finance and Administration Officer regarding best practices for financial administration of organizational work in Beitbridge. Other: Assist in the implementation of other Young Africa program activities in Zimbabwe, as needed. Relationships Reports to the Project Manager; Works closely and in liaison with the Finance and Administration Manager at Head Office; Engages with stakeholders and other organizations in Beitbridge. Qualifications A diploma or degree in social sciences, entrepreneurship, economics or other related degree; 5+ years of experience managing youth, economic empowerment, and/or international development projects; Proven project coordination skills with experience working for the Government and/or a local organization in Zimbabwe; Strong interpersonal skills and mentoring skills to work effectively with partners/clients; A track record that demonstrates energy and creativity, and the ability to successfully prioritize and manage competing priorities; Good verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking; Ability to communicate fluently in Venda; Experience in data processing (Microsoft Word), spread sheet (Microsoft Excel), E-mail, and Internet browser software. Must have a class 3 drivers’ license; Must be willing and able to ride a motorcycle.
