Position summary 

The Project Assistant plays an important role in supporting Country Office and Partners’ in ensuring that programming meets the expected quality and standards in line with CBM’S expectations. The Project Assistant will support the programs department to meet quality standards in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects; including reporting and documentation. In addition, the Project Assistant will be key in supporting and consolidating advisory work, ensuring that stakeholders such as Civil Society Organizations, UN Agencies and Independent Institutions view CBM as “the go” organization on disability issues.

Job description

The Project Assistant will be expected to: Coordinate with other Humanitarian team members at the Country Office, Donors and local partners to advance humanitarian work and promote best practices for emergency response; Support CBM humanitarian activities in disaster affected areas; Ensure that all CBM Zimbabwe emergency response initiatives are in line with humanitarian principles and standards; Advocate for disability inclusive approaches among project partners and stakeholders involved in humanitarian assistance in disaster affected areas; Ensure that reporting is done on humanitarian issues arising as a result of project activities; Review project narratives, financial and statistical reports submitted by implementing partner/s; Actively contribute to concept papers and proposal writing; Ensure effective representation of CBM in relevant technical forums and task forces, with donors and other key stakeholders; Identify documents with human interest stories and case studies based on the successes of implemented projects; Support the preparation of presentations, reports and other required written deliverables; Plan and coordinate events, meetings and trainings as and when required; Support departmental planning processes; Conduct other duties as assigned by the Project Officer/ Country Programs Manager.

Requirements 

The Project Assistant must have: An Undergraduate Degree in Disaster Management, Development studies, Agriculture or related field; At least 1 year of relevant experience in project implementation in a Humanitarian Project; Experience in working with People with Disabilities; Proficiency in the use of computers and office software (Office 365 Package); Good understanding of government disaster risk reduction structures, legislation and related regulations; Excellent networking and partnership building skills; Ability to work under high pressure situations with minimum supervision.
