A Harare-based media activist and civil society information hub is looking for a Program Manager. We have a reputation for sharing funky, balanced, credible information, and we’ve got a vibrant, robust membership across email / WhatsApp / Twitter / Facebook and our website. We love feedback, two-way communication and sharing "ordinary people's" voices, as well as drawing content from more established news sources, commentators and NGO publishing. We're a small team, so we're all used to doing a bit of everything. But we could really use a Program Manager to help us stay on track with our commitments and responsibilities!


Job description

The Program Manager is responsible for Kubatana's logistical and administrative requirements. This includes banking, payments, procurement, human resource oversight, staff contracts, policy and procedure development and oversight, processing job and opportunity advertisements and queries, sourcing office supplies and requirements, cash book tracking, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, contributing to proposal development, and tracking the organisation's programmatic and financial calendars and obligations. The Program Manager reports to the programme director and works with an off-site accounts team to keep the books in order and the financial reports on track.


Qualifications and experience

Five years experience in a similar role in an NGO environment; Strong computer skills (email, Excel, MS Word); Experience with NGO budgeting and financial reporting; Experience with human resource management including contracting, leave tracking, recruitment and policy development; Experience with pre-award assessment processes, grant compliance requirements and board governance requirements; Practical, proactive, energetic, adaptable and unfazed by Zimbabwe's dynamic operational landscape; Able to work both remotely and at the office when required; Willing to do administrative chores; An informal, hands on, down to earth style is great; Strong written and spoken professional communication skills; Bi- or tri-lingual (English / Shona / Ndebele) would be very valuable. Experience with online project management and collaborative workspace tools a plus.
