IRI Zimbabwe, Harare office is recruiting for a position of a Program Manager, on full time basis.


Description of duties


The Program Manager (PM) will oversee the development and implementation of IRI programs in Zimbabwe on a full-time basis. S/he will work as part of IRI’s program team and be in charge of leading program proposals development, communication with donors and relevant stakeholders in-country, communication with colleagues in Washington DC, implementation of program activities, oversight of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) efforts, and writing of programmatic reports. The Program Manager will report directly to the Resident Program Director (RPD).


Specific duties & responsibilities

The Program Manager will have a broad set of duties and responsibilities, including the following:

Conceptualize and design new program interventions consistent with IRI program objectives and available budgets; Write and review time-sensitive program documents, activity reports, funding proposals, and training materials; Support RPD in business development efforts and strategic outreach; Provide efficient and timely oversight of administrative and financial matters; Cultivate relationships and communicate with relevant government officials, local partners, and members of the donor community, implementing partners and represent IRI at public functions as requested and share summaries; Work in concert with IRI’s Evidence and Learning Practice and program personnel to monitor and evaluate the performance of IRI and partner organizations’ program activities, identifying successes and failures and recommending program adjustments accordingly; Monitor Zimbabwe’s political current events and developments to provide political and programmatic analysis and recommendations for the RPD; Travel from time-to-time, independently and/or as part of a team, to various locations throughout Zimbabwe to support IRI’s programmatic objectives; Regularly analyze the media sector, and relevant topics such as disinformation and the role of technology to promote citizen understanding of local governance, etc; Support the RPD in management of members of the IRI Zimbabwe team; Perform any other duties as assigned by the RPD.


Qualifications

At least 7 years of experience in the democracy sector, specifically: local governance, media, civil society sectors; Demonstrate an understanding media and technology to promote citizen understanding of local governance; Master’s degree in Political Science or related field; Knowledge of USG regulations and experience with USAID funding is an added advantage; Networking skills and experience engaging with donors, diplomatic community and government officials; Fluent in English (speaking and writing). Fluency in Shona and/or Ndebele a preference; Strong writing skills required; Knowledge of media sector needs and media strengthening; Knowledge of civil society strengthening; Experience with M&E processes.
