THE ZIMBABWE SCHOOL OF MINES Our Client, the Zimbabwe School of Mines which promotes and provides technical education and training leading to the award of the Zimbabwe National Diploma, under the auspices of the Further Education Examination Board, in courses and subjects relevant to the mining industry, has mandated us to recruit a competent and dynamic individual to fill in the position below. VACANCY: PRINCIPAL The position, which reports to the Board of Management, is responsible for the delivery of the organizations objectives as stated by the Charter. Principle Accountabilities: • Reviews, recommends and implements all organizational policies as authorized by the Board. • Ensures the upholding of the organizational image and its treasured pride & uniqueness. • Participates in all board and committee meetings as well as appoints and oversees the operations of the various working committees in the organization e.g. internal procurement committee, graduation committee etc. • Directs ZSM in an ethical and visionary manner to meet the needs of the SADC mining industry. • Oversees the formulation of the academic curriculum, the specifications and quality of training programs which should meet regional and national requirements and standards. • Oversees and reviews the examination process to ensure adherence to institutional requirements and international standards. • Ensures the implementation of the institutional master development plan c.g. construction of buildings and other infrastructure. • Coordinates processes and mobilizes resources required for the development and running of the institution, this includes human and intellectual capital for the institution. • Ensures the development and/or expansion of institutional facilities to support the growth of the institution's curriculum and other training programs. • Oversees the strategic planning, departmental planning and budgeting processes for the organization and implements the corporate strategy thereof. • Oversees the implementation of national and international partnerships and MO U s and regionally marketing. • Reviews and authorizes payments, contracts, capital expenditure and all legal documentation pertaining to the organization. Qualifications, Competencies & Experiences: The ideal candidate will possess the following: • A Degree in a mining related field is a must. • A Master's degree is a must. • Proven managerial ability with minimum of 6 years experience at senior management level in the mining sector. • Demonstratable knowledge of the skills and processes in the mining value chain. • Thorough understanding of training and people development initiatives in a mining setup is an added advantage. • High level of tact and diplomacy. • Be highly computer literate with good report writing skills. • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skill • Thorough understanding of both Government and Private policies and procedures.
