Peace Building - Volunteer Reporting to Regional Coordinator


Location: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe Background A local organization seeks the services of a Peace Building Volunteer. The organization conducts nation-building, humanitarian and development interventions to address the various challenges in the country. Over the past 10 years, the organization has implemented programmes covering areas of social cohesion, inclusion, economic justice and youth empowerment, good governance, active citizenship, and humanitarian and development services.


Objective The Peace Building Volunteer will support the regional office in the implementation of social cohesion, inclusion, economic justice and youth empowerment, good governance, active citizenship activities and support program development to advance the vision and mission of the organization.


1. Duties and Responsibilities The Peace Building Volunteer will:

a) Assist in planning and supporting the implementation and coordination of all Peace Building activities in liaison with the regional coordinator.

b) Assist the regional coordinator in facilitating dialogue and engagement meetings between the organization and key stakeholders including government officials, parliamentarians and the private sector.

c) Compile quality project/activity monthly, terminal and annual reports and assist in knowledge management systems of the organization.

d) Produce and document significant stories of change/ impact stories.

e) Identify gaps for a program extension, expansion and assist in the program, concept note development and proposal writing processes.

f) Assist in the preparation of purchase requests and reconciliations for program supplies/activities in liaison with the regional coordinator and finance department.

g) Support local ecumenical fellowship strengthening activities.

h) Perform any other tasks as required by the supervisor


2. Competencies and Educational Qualifications


 Positive attitude, good team player, flexible mind, comfortable working in a dynamic organization.

 Demonstrate ability to work proactively, independently, and in a small team.

 Well-organized and sound judgment.

 Ability to adapt to various situations and work under minimum supervision.

 Studying towards a university degree in Peace Studies, Politics and public management or any related field.

 Fluency in English and Ndebele.

 Exhibit excellent report writing skills.

 Ability to work in different cross-cultural environments.


3. Start Date: Immediate start.
