The Zimbabwe Association of Community Radio Stations (ZACRAS) is a membership based non-profit making Association established in 2003 with a specific mandate of promoting community radio interests in Zimbabwe. ZACRAS is interested in filling the position of National Coordinator which has risen in the Association. The National Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the operations of the national Association so as to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, available funding and other specifications.


Job description & main responsibilities


Lead the development and implementation of the Association’s Strategic Plan; Utilise performance measurements to guide strategic and operational decision making; Coordinate and monitor member stations; Lead and supervise the Secretariat, activities and program areas; Promote the Association’s visibility and welfare in line with set Mission and Vision; Formulate innovative access to information community interventions; Lead members’ capacity development initiatives; Fundraising, Grant Management; Financial planning, monitoring and management; Spearhead lobby and advocacy work; Staff and Programs Management; Liaise with Government, Development Partners, CSO and CBOs on media and development related issues; Risk management; Act as Co-Spokesperson for the Association including representing the Association in public fora and in the media; Spearhead the preparation of periodic reports and implementation of program activities for the Board and Partners; Spearhead organisational development; Stakeholder relationship management.


Key skills and attributes


Understanding of Zimbabwe’s media landscape especially the community radio sector; Appreciation of Zimbabwe citizens information needs; Proven experience in resource mobilisation; Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and planning skills; Outstanding communication (speaking and writing), interpersonal, organizational and computer skills; Energetic, flexible, self-starting team player with a direct, honest, and respectful approach to problem solving; Ability to foster collaboration and contribute to a strong sense of community among Staff and Board; Strong project, time and budget management skills; Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles; Ability to organise work of self and others.


Qualifications


Degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Development Studies or any other related field of study; A Masters Degree will be an added advantage; Minimum of seven years progressive experience at a managerial or senior management level; Experience of working in the non-profit sector and / or in media, human rights and governance; Must have substantive knowledge and experience of working in the area of media freedom, access to information and free expression with a specific focus on community media; Demonstrable success of effectively leading change and organisational growth, success in staff leadership, fundraising, partnership development and financial management.
