Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the

following JUNIOR LECTURER/LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE

PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR positions that have arisen in the Faculty of Agriculture,

Environment and Food Systems within the University of Zimbabwe.

1.0 Department of Plant Production Science and Technologies

1.1.1 Pathology/ Virology

Responsibilities

 Be able to supervise students up to post-graduate level

 Track record of high-quality publications

 A teaching background is an added advantage

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

 Applicants should have at least a PhD or

 MSc in Pathology/Virology/Crop Protection or relevant field supported with

relevant experience in Pathology/Virology and possess the following

attributes:

 Post-Harvest and pre-harvest management and control of crop diseases

 Good understanding of Host-pathogen interactions

 A strong understanding disease ecology

 Quantitative assessment of pathogen induced crop losses

 Ability to deal with emerging pathogens

 Ability to effectively exploit beneficial pathogens for example, biocontrol

 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 Be able to develop innovations and industrial solutions such as bio-pesticides

and pathogen identification tools and models

 Ability to offer consultancy in the above

 Ability to work within multi and inter-disciplinary teams

 Strong application of modern technologies in integrated Disease Management
