Background

Tag a Life International(TaLI) a girls and young women’s rights organisation in partnership with Fojo IMS and Identities Media TV intends to work with 30 Journalists from the country’s 10 provinces. The journalists must be already working with established print media, electronic/social media, radio and television to join us on this project to raise awareness of the new Freedom of Information Act under the project ‘My Freedom of Information’ (MFoI) campaign. Each province in Zimbabwe will have 3 practising journalist representatives as ambassadors of which two thirds will be women. The ambassadors will be expected to engage with the project for a minimum of 6 months using traceable ways to creatively engage citizens to raise awareness on the act. They should be prepared and committed to be trained on the freedom of information act and be dedicated to using their platforms to promote the new law and for citizens to engage with it.


Skills, Competences and other Requirements


  • A Journalism Qualification of a minimum of a diploma in this field;
  • Journalism and media practice for at least 1 year for juniors and 3 years for seniors in an established media house with traceable past work;
  • Understanding of the need for citizens and journalists’ access to freedom of information;
  • Willingness to be trained for at least 2 days online on the freedoms of information;
  • Ability to commit to the project for at least than 6 months;
  • Ability to influence their media platforms to create a space for the MFoI campaign without having to pay the station but as a community service;
  • General knowledge of women's rights, human rights, democracy, governance is key;
  • A supporter of women's rights and gender equality; Being able to speak the following three key languages fluently is an added advantage
  • ;English, Ndebele and Shona, it’s even better when they speak more of the Zimbabwe National languages.
