Impact Development Specialist - VisionFund


PURPOSE OF POSITION:


This role will transform the approach and culture of impact at VisionFund through facilitating change through the MFIs to use their data and evidence of impact to understand and improve the impact of their services and products.

Furthermore, this role will build a body of resources to support Fundraising, Marketing and Engagement to achieve their objectives.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Co-ordinates the production of impact-related resources/materials (client survey results, impact evaluations, client stories, etc.) with Fundraising and Marketing and Engagement teams to ensure appropriate resources and material is available when needed.
  • Produces impact-related resources/materials from the data and evidence from MFIs.
  • Initiates and facilitates the development of impact strategies and plans with MFIs.


Supports MFI senior leaders to develop change management plans to build MFI capacity to achieve impact goals with regards to

  • Understanding the local economic development sector and local trends.
  • Creating impact-related resources for local and global stakeholders such as WV, government agencies/regulators, donors, lenders, grantors, etc.


  • Identifying opportunities to raise the MFI’s profile.
  • Leads, understands and informs on current sector trends and global issues related to poverty alleviation and economic development to ensure evidence of VF impact is always relevant.
  • Works with sector peers through communities of practice, working groups, etc., to elevate impact-led and mission-driven economic development in the sector.
  • Provides VF leaders with information and insights related to economic development to support a unified view and understanding of impact throughout the network.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • In-depth understanding of the economic development sector, especially research and emerging trends, gained through minimum 5 years of work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience analysing data and information to create evidence of impact.
  • Experience of working with minimal supervision in a globally dispersed team.
  • Experience of managing projects and achieving through others.
  • Proven authorship in English of reports and articles about evidence of impact for various non-specialist audiences.
  • Undergraduate degree in a humanities subject such as economics, history, communications.
  • Demonstrable skill at writing in English to the standard of publication.
  • Demonstrable skill at translating evidence of outcomes and impact into material suitable for fundraising, marketing and stakeholder engagement, tailor-made for diverse audiences.
  • Detailed understanding of the role of economic development in reducing poverty gained through work experience (minimum 5 years) or formal research.
  • Experience of delivering training to groups and/or one-on-one coaching.
  • Good understanding of the role of microfinance in economic development.
  • Highly skilled with software used for presentations and desk-top publishing.


Preferred:

  • Project Management certification.
  • Spanish or French language skills desirable.


Work Environment/Travel:

  • Travel up to 20% of time.
