Reports to: Provincial Maternal Child Health Officer (PMCHO)


The AIDS and TB Program (ATP) within the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) coordinate the National effort towards the prevention, care and treatment of HIV AIDS which remain a major public health problem in Zimbabwe. The ATP wishes to recruit the following personnel to contribute to the successful implementation of the Global Fund implementation plans.


Summary of key functions

Responsible for assisting in coordinating, implementing of combination HIV prevention interventions in the province


Responsibilities

Serves as a contact point for HIV prevention related issues emerging from the province; Provides technical assistance to the Provincial Health Executive in the development, implementation and review of province and district combination HIV prevention annual work plans in line with Health Sector HIV and STI Strategy 2021-2025; Strengthens integration of sexual and reproductive health and HIV prevention into other HIV and non-HIV programmes being implemented in the province; Strengthens continued use of M&E data generated by the programme to identify opportunities for course-corrective decision making and oval programme improvement; Identifies and engages key stakeholders, line ministries, government departments and community to advocate for increased provision and uptake of proven biomedical interventions; Introduces and scales up the transition of VMMC to sustainability; Documents and disseminates programme successes and challenges in provincial and district planning, review and update meetings, taskforce and national meetings.


Qualifications and experience

Degree in Public Health, Social Science or Nursing and advanced qualification is an added advantage; At least 2 years’ experience in development or implementation of Health intervention programmes e.g. HIV/AIDS and/ or sexual reproductive health programmes; knowledge and experiences in VMMC programme delivery is an advantage.


Competencies and skills required

Strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills-demonstrated experience working with and building relationships with government leaders is an added advantage; Good analytical and report writing skills; Strong operations management skills; Ability to implement policies and guidelines successfully with minimal supervision; Fluent in English and Shona or Ndebele; Clean Class 4 Driver’s license.
