Position summary

Under the overall guidance of the Executive Director and the direct supervision of the Advocacy and Communications Officer, the Graduate Trainee Graphic Designer will visualise and create graphics including illustrations, logos, layouts and photos for all ZNNP+ information, education and communication materials. The role will involve shaping the visual aspects of websites, books, magazines, fliers, brochures and all other required documents to ensure that ZNNP+ work is communicated effectively to all interested stakeholders. To be successful in this position, you’ll be a self-starter, capable of delivering brilliant creative ideas, and show amazing attention to detail.


Job description

The Graphic Designer will create and design various information, education and communication materials for print and electronic dissemination in line with ZNNP+ communication and branding guidelines. The Graduate Trainee Graphic Designer will also be required to establish creative direction for the organization in order to enhance the visibility of the organization. Therefore, the role involves preparation of rough drafts and presenting ideas to ZNNP+ team members to ensure production of exceptional communication products thus the candidate will work closely with the communications department and programmes department to produce final designs. The use of appropriate colours and layouts for each graphic will be critical to ensure that the organisation adheres to its branding guidelines as well as those of ZNNP+ funding partners. The position requires someone who is experienced in working with a wide range of media and use of graphic design software.

Qualifications and experience

A University Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or its equivalent; with at least one (1) years’ experience in graphic designing; Experience of working in an NGO in the same or related capacity is an added advantage; Proven graphic designing experience as well as familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop); a sense of creativity, style, animation, originality, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of computer graphics; A keen eye for aesthetics and details; Excellent communication skills; Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines. Demonstrated commitment to working with PLHIV (including key populations, women, children and youths) is key. Personal commitment drive for results, efficiency, flexibility, respect for diversity, analytical capability required to respond to evolving programme demands and current events. Be culturally sensitive and empathetic to others, with a ‘can do’ attitude.
