About 

Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental organizations in development co-operation and emergency relief. Primarily in cooperation with local partner organizations, our task is to contribute to the improvement in nutritional and income base for the low-income populations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe since 1980. Sector focus is on Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Food, and Nutrition Security, Livelihoods and when necessary, Emergency response;

Welthungerhilfe together with Community Technology Development Organization and Agricultural Partnerships Trust is implementing a program titled, Matabeleland Enhanced Livelihoods Agriculture and Nutrition Adaptation (MELANA) under the UNDP managed Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund ZRBF001-2016. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the increased capacities of communities, to protect development gains, and achieve improved well-being outcomes in the face of shocks and stresses. This will be achieved through improving the absorptive, adaptive, and transformative capacities of at-risk communities. The project is operational in Nkayi, Bubi, Umguza districts of Matabeleland North and Umzingwane district of Matabeleland South province;


Job description 

Duties and Responsibilities – Conduct invivo trials on the efficacy of selected plants in the survey. Come up with a thesis on the efficacy of the selected plants on animal disease control: Produce simplified training material on the use of ethnovet medicine on animal disease control.


Qualifications and experience

BSc Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Veterinary Studies or a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2.1 degree class; Experience in training communities and the ability to convey complex scientific information into simple messages that are understood by a wide range of audience with varying levels of literacy; Sound knowledge of animal health in smallholder farming systems of Zimbabwe; Knowledge of Ndebele is an added advantage;
