Africa, Parks is a non-profit organization that takes on direct responsibility for the rehabitation and long term management of national pars and protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. By adopting a business approach to conservation, supported by donor funding, we aim to make each park sustainable in the long-term, thereby contributing to economic development and poverty alleviation. POSITION: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER African Parks signed an agreement with the Zimbabwean government for the management mandate for Matusadonha National Park. African Parks is therefore looking for suitable individuals to fill up the position of financial Controller on the project Matusadonha National Park. This position reports to the Park Manager with support from finance Director. JOB PURPOSE The primary purpose of this role is to: 1) Direct and control the administration of all financial, treasury and accounting activities In accordance with APN policy and in compliance with fiscal, legal and statutory requirements of the host country (Zimbabwe). 2) Co-ordinate and provide the required financial information and requirements for the park. 3) Ensure that all donor regulations are adhered to: e.g. restricted funds, fund reporting requirements, specific procurement requirements etc. 4) Report on grants- financial and narrative. 5) Ensure that the accounting system is in place to record transactions in accordance with accepted accounting principles and APN policy such that it provides the basis for an efficient Financial management and information system. Provide training to project staff on APN financial policies and procedures, budgeting methods and compliance with donor guidelines. 0 Where required, assist with writing and maintaining the local procurement policy and be a member of the procurement committee. Carry out any other relevant tasks that may be assigned by the Park Manager from time to time. QUALIFICATIONS AND DEGREE OF EXPERTISE 1) Qualified ACCA/CIMA/CA or equivalent 2) At least 8 years post qualification experience, experience in international organisations as well as management of people 3) Demonstrated leadership ability and experience working in a multi-cultural environment 4) Strong analytical skills as well as excellent communication skills
