To oversee the organisation’s financial accounting, reporting and control activities and to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practices.


The analyze, report and give advice to the company/farms financial well-being, to oversee company budgeting, administration of accounting tasks by conducting strenuous record keeping and overseeing management accounts.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



Strategic


The establishment of effective systems for producing long term projections, budgeting and control systems,

The provision of robust financial analysis and expertise to the Managing Director and Farm Managers and other important stakeholders.

Perform as a key member of the senior management team

Maintain effective working relationships with company’s external partners including shareholders.


Management support and financial reports


Ensure all financial records are kept accurately and securely and in line with legislative requirements;

Proper accounting of contract farming arrangements ensuring that all costs are correctly tracked and agreed with contractors and various service providers.

Allocating cost items to respective units and farm operations using the correct chart of accounted and proper coding;

Ensure timely payment of creditors and invoicing of debtors;

Oversee the debtor management process;

Overall responsibility for payroll, pension and tax contribution payments

Administer the bank accounts and carry out bank reconciliations on all company bank accounts

Act as the first point of contact for the external accountants and communicate with them to ensure all questions can be answered efficiently

Analysis of business performance including benchmarking and making recommendations for improvement

PAYE, VAT, WHT and other statutory returns compilation and submission.


Budgeting, budgetary control and treasury management


Provide accurate cash-flow projections to the Managing Director;

Effective treasury management system using forecasting techniques and robust reporting of funding requirements to identify gaps and surpluses.

Budget formulation, guiding farm managers and other stakeholders with budgetary framework and consolidation

Work closely with budget-holders to enable them to analyse financial data to make accurate business decisions;

Ensure that approved budgets are implemented and properly monitored for adherence by the respective farms and business units.

Carry out variance analysis as a mechanism of budgetary control and ensuring that deviations are properly explained and curtailed.


Cash controls and banking


Responsible for ensuring daily takings are counted, accurately recorded using the existing accounts system and banked;

Overseeing petty cash reconciliation, allocating payments to appropriate budgets

Monitoring bank statements on a weekly and monthly basis.



Administrative matters



Maintaining filing systems and accurate, confidential, employee records

Responding promptly to accounts enquiries from customers, suppliers and staff

Production of financial reports for management information

Collation of information as requested by Managing Director/CEO

Responsible for daily back-up of the respective accounts system to ensure data integrity and as a business continually safeguard.

Attendance at monthly Management Meetings and other meetings/training as required



Qualifications


Educated to degree level or equivalent

Fully qualified accountant: Articled Accountant (AA), ACCA, CIMA qualification or equivalent


Experience



Demonstrable practical experience of working to a similar level in a financial management role;

Demonstrable experience of preparing comprehensive budgets and cash flow forecasts; developing and reviewing effective financial systems and controls

Experience of managing staff

Experience of landed estates and/or agriculture


Knowledge, skills and abilities


A good understanding of payment deadlines and month end deadlines

A good working knowledge of VAT and zero exemption

Knowledge and experience of payroll systems, pensions and auto enrolment

Must be computer literate and have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Packages with an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets

Working knowledge and experience of Accounting packages.
