Leonard Cheshire Disability Zimbabwe (LCDZ), is looking for a self-driven, passionate, and competent person to fill the position of Executive Director. LCDZ is a private voluntary organisation that delivers social services to persons with disabilities across Zimbabwe. The vision of the organisation is to achieve ‘A society in which every person with disabilities can enjoy their rights and have the opportunity to fulfil their potential’. Its mission is ‘To enable persons with disabilities to improve their quality of life and to campaign for the removal of the barriers which hinder them’.


Duties and responsibilities

Official representative and leader of LCDZ, shaping the vision and strategy for the organisation and providing high level oversight over all areas of program implementation and operations; Responsible for LCDZ's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. Leading the design and implementation of LCDZ strategy, ensuring proper financial performance and viability, developing resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization through direct fundraising, establishing consortiums and technical alliances; Ensuring the fiscal integrity and maintenance of LCDZ in a positive financial position; Organising Board members’ involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and visibility strategy and plans of the organisation; Establishing and maintaining relationships, and networking with various stakeholders of strategic importance to LCDZ and utilizing those relationships to cultivate new fundraising, partnership and programme opportunities that add value, maximize impact and strategically enhance LCDZ’s Mission; Overseeing the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers; Ensure the compliance of national and sub-office staff and volunteers with LCDZ policies, procedures

and program guidelines as well as the local laws.


Required qualifications

Masters Degree in in social sciences, humanitarian or development studies or any other relevant area


Required Work Experience and Key competencies

Minimum of SIX years of progressive work experience in a leadership and or senior management role within a similar organisation; Proven experience in organisational management; Strong demonstratable skills in project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; Proven experience in resource mobilisation; Good administrative skills; Deep knowledge and understanding on the rights of persons with disabilities and challenges in the humanitarian and development context; Excellent understanding of disability inclusion and related legal and programme frameworks and standards; Strong capacity to organised workload and meeting deadlines even under pressure.
