Position summary


To effectively implement disaster risk reduction and management actions for the ECHO HIP 2022 project.


Responsibilities


Develops an activity plan and Individual Operating Plan (IOP) for disaster preparedness & response activities; Provide inputs to the 2022 ECHO HIP strategic planning, achievement of targets and required modification of objectives for the consortium; Facilitate DRR technical trainings and deliver technical presentations during events and other engagements; Conduct field visits to project sites for the provision of hands-on support and quality assurance; Keep abreast of disaster management and preparedness issues, knowledge and tools, as well as climate change initiatives, and incorporate such initiatives where relevant to the project; Coordinate with DCP to develop national, local and community contingency plans, based on past disasters and potential new disasters; Assess CARE & partner staff DRR competencies and guide individuals and teams to effectively complete objectives and tasks; Support Civil Protection Department capacity enhancement efforts; mentor and develop the skills and / or provision of training of CPCs; Work in partnership with field teams and stakeholders for the timely submission of periodic, accurate, and professional progress reports to management and other stakeholders as required; Ensure adequate tools are in place to track all progress, achievements, challenges, and lesson learned for the ECHO HIP project; Promote and contribute to learning and knowledge sharing amongst all related; In the event of an emergency in project districts of operation or neighboring districts, be the coordinator for CARE International in Zimbabwe, in close liaison with the project Team Leader and the Humanitarian Response Lead; Be one of the main contributors to emergency response activities in districts of operation or neighboring districts (RNA, RGA, beneficiary selection & registration, actual response, AAR, etc) in close collaboration with DCPC, MEAL and the Team Leader; Manages relationships with stakeholders including Government line Ministries, UN Agencies, NGOs and private sector at National and provincial levels; Create an environment within CARE's workplaces, programming, and communities where CARE works that is free from sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation and child abuse.
