LEAD is a Zimbabwean registered Non Governmental Organization dedicated to building and restoring the dignity of disadvantaged communities in Zimbabwe through sustainable livelihoods interventions and appropriate economic empowerment initiatives. The organization was formed in 2004 and presently operates in most provinces of the country. LEAD is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for the upcoming FY 2020 Food for Peace Development Food Security Activity (DFSA). This activity will work at the individual, household, and systems levels to address the underlying causes of chronic food insecurity to improve and sustain the food and nutrition security of vulnerable populations. This program will reduce food insecurity among vulnerable populations and help build resilience in communities facing chronic poverty and recurrent crises through a multi-sectoral approach. Position Description: The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will work closely with the Chief of Party in providing technical operational oversight and management of the program, including the development and implementation of the project's vision, strategy, and technical direction, ensuring that project activities are of high quality and adhere to FFP technical guidance and global best practices. The DCOPwi II be the ultimate head of all operational positions and will support coordination and management of country teams, ensuring timely progress against schedules, achievement of deliverables, and quality of results. Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively increasing management responsibility in international development projects, including USAID projects, is required
  • Experience managing multi-sectoral projects including agricultural development, WASH, health and nutrition is required
  • Commitment to gender and youth integration in food security programming.
  • Proven and demonstrable leadership skills are required
  • Prior long-term development work experience in Zimbabwe or any other country in Southern Africa is strongly preferred
  • International donor experience is required, USAID program experience, particularly with Food for Peace funding, is preferred
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field is required
  • Strong English ability is required, understanding of local languages is preferred.
