Customs Manager (Harare) Reporting to the Managing Director


Duties and Responsibilities


1. Manage both customs and trade compliance across the company, ensuring that all global regulations are understood.

2. Responsible for determining Customs classifications and regulatory requirements (licenses, certificates)

3. Ensure the highest compliance levels for all customs and government agency requirements across all staff and teams.

4. Oversee entry auditing and reporting results and recommendations for improvement.

5. Ensure that company’s controls, policies, procedures, processes and applications are all understood by the team and implemented accordingly.

6. Ensure that all internal audits are being completed and done as per client requirements.

7. Provide ongoing training to keep up with changing trade compliance policies

8. Perform due diligence checks on new customers when required to do so.

9. Ensure all customer authorizations are valid and kept up to date.

10. Manage the company’s interface using customs authorities.

11. Assist in the implementation and control of new legislations, which will be issued from HMRC.

12. Assist customers with their AEO/Applications.

13. Accomplishes department objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating department activities.

14. Developing new business


Key skills and qualifications of a Customs Manager:

The following skills will be beneficial to a candidate looking to apply for this role:


 CPL Diploma

 Any other business related qualification is an added advantage

 Excellent understanding of International Trade, Compliance and Customs regulations

 Knowledge of ASCUDA System

 Previous exposure to the development of business policies

 3 years’ experience

 Aged between 28 -40years

 Excellent knowledge of export and import controls.

 AEO application experience would be beneficial for this role.
