Introduction

Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ) is a national membership-based network of women’s rights organizations and individual women’s rights activists with a mandate to create a focal point for activism on women and girl’s rights. WCoZ is working on an intervention aimed at increasing the influence and capacity of women and youth in acting collectively, through formal and informal groups, for more democratic and accountable governance at every level of society. Through the intervention, WCoZ seeks to improve its institutional capacities in line with the Organisation’s Strategic Plan.


Purpose and Scope of Consultancy

A call for expression of interest is made to the consultant(s) who wish to conduct board orientation and capacity building of the new WCoZ Board (NCC), members on WCoZ policies. The Women's Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ) developed a number of policies over the years to safeguard day to day operations of WCoZ work and create an enabling operating environment for WCoZ members, secretariat and stakeholders. The Re-orientation of the new WCoZ Board, seeks to enhance and support the Board members’ skills in developing policy, institutional and administrative practices which enable a conducive operating environment for WCoZ members, Secretariat and stakeholders.


Methodology

In carrying out this work, the Consultant is expected to employ various approaches which include a consolidation and simplification of WCoZ existing policies and strategies and identify opportunities for improving the policies according to national, regional and global best practices. The Consultant will also prepare and deliver a capacity building training aligned to re-orienting WCoZ Board and secretariat on existing policies and strategies and identifying opportunities and gaps for improvement. The Consultant will work closely with the Policy and Advocacy Officer.


Key Deliverables

A consolidated Guide summarizing WCoZ existing policies and strategy documents; Training Material for the re-orientation training; Conducting the Capacity building training; A power-point presentation which summarizes the Training; Report of the Training.

1 April 2021 - Submission of First draft of the Guide and Training Materials

14 April 2021 - Final Submission of the Guide and Training Materials

23 April 2021 - Capacity Building Training

30 April 2021 - Submission of Training report and PPT Presentation


Expected Qualifications, experience of the Consultant

The consultant should have a Masters’ Degree in Law, Gender and Development work, or related fields; Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in organization policies and governance oversight for gender, coalition or membership-based organizations and networks; Proven working experience in capacity building and policy field.

The EOI will detail the Consultant’s understanding of the Scope of Work, and methodological approach. It will also detail work-plan, including dates for when specific tasks will be done. The EOI should also include: A detailed budget, indicating a breakdown of all costs for conducting this work such as consultancy daily rate. The EOI must not exceed five pages; Cover letter summarizing the applicant’s skills and past experience relevant to conducting the outlined SOW; Detailed C.V(s)/resume(s), with names of three referees and their contact details (email and phone); At least two recent samples similar to that called for in this SOW for which the applicant was a lead author.
