Introduction

An INGO is looking for a Consultant to conduct a rapid assessment to evaluate the impact of Covid-19 on an on-going project on "Strengthening the capacity of youth, women and churches to promote peaceful coexistence and contribute meaningfully to development of Zimbabwe" in Harare, Goromonzi, Binga and Marondera rural. The study will assess how project participants and communities have been impacted by Covid -19, identify their challenges and coping mechanisms and give recommendations for strengthening community resilience to shocks.


Skills and qualifications

The organisation is looking for a consultant or at least a team of consultants with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in social development assessment, impact assessments, or social research and rigorous analysis. The lead evaluator should have a degree in Development studies, Peace Building, Sociology, Conflict Transformation or equivalent. The consultant(s) should demonstrate a track record of doing similar work within the NGO sector and possess excellent analytical and report writing skills. The consultant(s) should understand the dynamics of COVID-19 in Zimbabwe and be conversant with how the pandemic has impacted vulnerable groups as well as its impact on peace, livelihoods and community cohesion. Knowledge and experience of working in peri-urban, internal displacement and rural settings is highly desirable. Experience in conducting research activities in internal displacement settings will be an added advantage, alongside experience in conducting assessments in Binga.
