Background

A local organisation is looking for a qualified consultant to provide technical assistance in producing a documentary for a project which sought to increase access and uptake of SRHR services and products by women and girls with disabilities. The organisation seeks to empower women in their diversities economically, politically and socially through amplifying their voices in all local and national processes by creating platforms for engagement, advocacy and capacity building. The organisation focuses on creating platforms and community centred interventions which support women to access comprehensive SRH services, products, counter gender-based violence and overcome discrimination by providing counselling as well as legal aid, and promoting democracy and good governance. The organisation is implementing a one year project which started in July 2020 and ending in July 2021. The project is aimed at increasing access and uptake of SRHR services and products for women and girls with disabilities. Through this project, the organisation has been engaging SRHR service providers, CSOs and women and girls with disabilities (WWDs) in marginalised communities. It is therefore within this context that the organisation is seeking the services of a suitably qualified consultant to produce a project documentary on project successes, challenges and impacts.

Overall objective of the Assignment

The overall objective of the assignment is to produce a 20 minutes long end of project documentary highlighting success stories, challenges, achievements and impact of the project interventions which have been implemented. The documentary should capture and reflect personal insight of beneficiaries and stakeholders as a result of intervention.

Specific tasks for the Service Provider

The service provider will be required to do the following: Develop the documentary film’s overall concept and scenario; Meet with programmes staff for deeper understanding of the stories of change; Develop the documentary script and storyboard to be used in the documentary; Interview selected participants for the film who will include beneficiaries, project staff and stakeholders who were engaged during the project implementation; Perform appropriate video filming and shoot interviews with the projects’ beneficiaries and stakeholders; Present a draft documentary (with subtitle in English and sign language insert) for review and comments; Produce one final documentary film in a new and uncorrupted flash drive disk.

Output /Deliverables

Submit a storyboard and script for the documentary for approval before filming; Present draft documentary stories of change for comments; Produce an edited Video Recording of the scenarios captured, and the footage of the recorded stories; Provide the master file of all the shoots before editing; Present a complete 20 minute documentary film; Present a 2 minutes trailer of documentary film.

Required Qualifications and Experience of the Service

The service provider will be required to have the following: More than 3 years experience working in a similar field; Extensive experience in producing development work related films for publication and documentaries; Excellent technical capacities (state of the art filming equipment including drone camera preferably High Definition) to ensure smooth and high quality production; Experienced and qualified team for shooting, editing, audio, mixing, voiceover, graphics etc; Greater appreciation of the disability rights and women rights; Excellent Knowledge of the English and Shona languages.

Duration of the Assignment

The assignment is expected to take at most 10 working days from the date of signing of the contract.

Intellectual Property

All information pertaining to this project (documentary, audio, digital, cyber, project documents, etc) belonging to the client, which the service provider may come into contact with in the performance of his/her duties under this consultancy shall remain the property of the organisation who shall have exclusive rights over their use. Except for purposes of this assignment, the information shall not be disclosed to the public nor used in whatever form without written permission of the organisation after seeking consent from the beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Equipment for the Assignment

No equipment will be purchased or provided by the organisation. Any equipment needed to complete this assignment will be provided by the service provider.

Evaluation of the Expression of Interests

Technical part of the proposal will be evaluated first. Technical proposal will carry 70% weightage; Financial part of proposal will carries 30% weightage; After the technical, financial evaluation all the points will be aggregated to finalize the hiring process of the individual/group/firm/organization; The organisation’s evaluation committee reserves the right to reject all or any proposal without assigning any reason.
