Reporting to the Compliance Officer, Compliance Intern duty is to promote a culture of knowledge of specific donor rules and regulations, as well as GOAL internal processes and policies where relevant, and ensure an understanding of the necessity of compliance with those rules/regulations, processes and policies throughout GOAL and GOAL’s implementing partners and the implications of non-compliance.

This is a critical role in GOAL’s Offices because of the importance of ensuring compliance with GOAL processes/policies and donor contractual requirements.



Main responsibilities


Responsibility 1-Key Responsibilities


• Gain a strong understanding of GOAL and donor requirements

• Familiarize oneself with and ensure adherence to Donor rules and regulations in relation to Logistics, Finance, HR and Programmes as set out in grant agreements and through GOAL internal control procedures.

• Follow up on distributions reconciliations documents from the field offices.

• Assist in setting up and conducting trainings to relevant staff especially new staff of GOAL Zimbabwe in donor, GOAL and Government rules and regulations.

• Ensure appropriate documentation management system is in place for the field office is well maintained in accordance with GOAL Dublin and donor requirements for audit. (improve as necessary)

• Help to set up and schedule grant management meetings

• Setting up and updating grant files both physically and on the shared drive.

• Send out reminders and following up any due donor reports from the project managers.

• Assist in preparation of audits( Internal and External)


Mainstreaming issues

• Familiarize self, understand and implement according to area of responsibility, GOAL’s policies and procedures on mainstreaming of Gender, HIV/AIDS and Child protection.

• Familiarize self to GOAL Donor Compliance issues and implement accordingly in area of responsibility.


Responsibility 2-Logistics and Operations


• Commit to adhere to and respect the Logistics and Operations policies and procedures



Responsibility 3-Finance and Compliance

• Commit to adhere to and respect the compliance policies including but not limited to the Whistleblowing, Anti-Fraud, Conflict of Interest Policies

• Adhere to all Finance policies and procedures.



Responsibility 4-Human Resources


• Complete the LINGOS mandatory courses in the first month of employment

• Participate, plan for performance management and ensure that set objectives are achieved per the performance plan

• Ensure timesheets are completed and submitted to HR monthly.

• Ensure compliance with the HR manual and any related policies including the Code of Conduct


Requirements (Person Specification)


• Bachelors’ degree in accounting or related field.

• NGO experience would be advantageous, preferably in an audit, finance or compliance capacity.

• Excellent writing and spoken communication skills in English.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to determine priorities and giving attention to details a must

• High–level skills in MS office application software

• Well organized and a quick learner.

• Ability to work on their own, a self-starter with high energy levels and the capability to work within a multi-cultural team;

• Gender Sensitive
