Job Description


A large scale international civil and building project is looking for a suitable candidate who will serve as the resident Clerk of works. The position is an on-site appointment and the applicant will have to relocate to Beitbridge Town. Strong preference will be given to Zimbabwean Nationals.


The position will be for approximately 24 months starting in January 2021.


Minimum Requirements


Applicants must have, as a minimum, the following qualification and experience:


  • Have a degree or technical diploma in Civil Engineering and or Building Management from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
  • Member of a Professional Institution.
  • Have at least 10 years’ experience in construction and building management and the overall industry.
  • Strong MS Office skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint is essential. Proficiency with Project Plus is necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise and report to management
  • Fundamentally strong report writing skills, programming and quality assurance.
  • Good interpersonal and social skills
  • Experience with working in Africa or other emerging markets is highly advantageous


Main Responsibilities


  • Report and liaise to Employer Representative.
  • Assist on matters related to quality control and the interpretation of contract documents.
  • Carry out site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with the contract specification and drawings within the current legislations, standards and policies.
  • Attend site meetings and provide thourough reporting to superiors.
  • Liaise with all necessary stakeholders on the contract when required.
  • Assist in Health and Safety monitoring on site.
  • Assist in preparation of reports on progress, site activities and all other related issues.
  • Undertake any necessary training and development as deemed relevant to the duties and responsibilities.
  • Understand and comply with the environmental policies.
  • Check and maintain contractor's daily diaries.
