Description :

Deadline: 25 October 2020

Background

Childline Zimbabwe is a registered Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO 7/2001). Childline provides a 24hour child friendly reporting and counselling platform. The organisation seeks to provide children, families and those involved with children, preventative, educational, therapeutic and rehabilitation services in addition to research and advocacy. Childline’s vision is: ‘A Zimbabwe that is passionate about the protection of children, championing, guarding and protecting their rights’. This is achieved through the organization’s mission: ‘To champion, defend and promote the rights of children in Zimbabwe through the provision of safe, confidential and child friendly reporting mechanisms centred around a free 24-hour counselling service’.

Communities in Zimbabwe have been recipients of humanitarian aid. According to GBV AoR Helpdesk report (2020), the outbreak of COVID-19 is a contributory factor in the prevalence of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). Dependence on aid has heightened community vulnerability to SEA. Although there are reporting mechanisms in place reported cases of SEA remain low. Some reasons for under reporting include and are not limited to fear of losing much needed material assistance; fear of stigmatization; limited knowledge on how to report an allegation of SEA; lack of faith in the response after filing report; cultural barriers to reporting sexual exploitation and abuse; fear of the consequences of mandatory reporting requirements and lack of maintaining confidentiality. Strengthening of information and education on issues surrounding the prevention of SEA is of paramount importance.

About the assignment

In order to address and mitigate the problem above Childline intends to reach out to the targeted community by Developing a Community Drama Club Guide. This will be a resource tool used by community facilitators to facilitate drama clubs which will be focusing on dramatizing SEA followed by discussions.

Childline Zimbabwe is seeking the services of an experienced consultant to develop the Community Drama club guide. The Consultant should have: Relevant academic qualifications; Proven experience in developing guidelines, handbooks, toolkits, manuals for children; Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of SEA issues in Zimbabwe; Excellent communication and writing skills
